Last day of RO-IFF, 2011
This edition’s Best of, awarded Saturday night: “Attenberg”, Best Movie!
Bucharest, 9th of October 2011 – Romania International Film Festival (RO-IFF) has reached the final of its seventh edition. More than 40 movies have been presented to movie lovers and world wide well known guest came to Bucharest on this occasion.Last night, the organizers announced the winners of the two competitive sections of the Festival: CineBlackSea and Woman in Cinema. The prizes’ value sums around 4000 USD.
Best Movie Trophy went to Attenberg, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari, “for pushing the boundaries of Greek culture". You can see Attenberg totay, at Corso Theater, starting 18.30, in the last day of the Festival. Best Director Award went to Emre Sahin for the movie 40, "for creating a dynamic rhythm using a smart cuts, edgy camera movements and contemporary photography".
Trophy for Woman in Cinema section was awarded to Celine Sciamma for Tomboy, “for her deft direction of a girl in the crisp of adolescence. Through her choices of photography, the director draws the audience into the world of the character".
Finally, Best Acting Award goes to Zrinka Cvitesic for her role in the movie “On the path” and the jury motivation is: “for her depiction of a Muslim woman struggling to forge her way in her marriage and in the culture against repressive religious traditions. It is a much nuanced performance (...) and there is freshness in her portrayal of a contemporary Bosnian woman that allows one to feel her struggle to remain equal".
The Jury of 2011 RO-IFF wanted to award a special mention for the actress Zoé Héran, playing Laure / Michaël (10 yrs) in Tomboy: “"the young actress demonstrated incredible courage on taking the lead role of the film. She shows a level of comfort in her acting choices that depicts great maturity to free her from any prejudgment and pre-concepts that sways over today's society. It is an absolute joy to see such a young actress clearly in control of her action".
