RO-IFF at the start! Seven years of non compromising movies!

Bucharest, 27th of September – From October 1 to 9, movie enthusiasts have the opportunity to attend the Romania International Film Festival (RO-IFF), the only festival to promote Eastern European filmmakers of the Black Sea region but, most of all, the only one which includes a competitive section addressed only to female director. Tickets cost only one leu, the organizer, Artis Foundation, wishing thus to promote the seventh art in a more accessible way for everybody. Tickets will be available at Eforie and Corso theaters.

Thus, in Bucharest, at the two cinema halls, more than 40 films will be screened; the festival will include other side-events. Highlights are the Oscar winning movie premiere in Romania, „In a Better World”, or the premiere of the the long awaited Romanian sequel "Liceenii" (The Graduates).

This year also, at the seventh edition of the Festival, the focus is on European cinema and the productions of the Black Sea region. We aim to encourage the resumption of a constructive dialogue about creativity and multiculturalism between professionals. Another angle of RO-IFF’s uniqueness is the emphasis on women Directors and their work, and this year we will enjoy the presence of leading figures such as Julia Taymour, the Director of the famous  Frida,, and Tatiana Issa, also Director of the-multi awarded documentary “Dzi Croquettes”.

Romanian International Film Festival is divided into six sections: two in competition (CineBlackSea and Woman in Cinema), with movies, short films and documentaries, and four other with movies outside the competition: Underground – for the fans of movies that challenge the borders of classic cinema, Focus: Brasil, Panorama - "Featured Videos". „2 x 3” is where we witness a cinematographic encounter between two Directors: a woman and a man, each presenting three of her/his movies. This year, face to face, Julie Taymour with Frida, Across the Universe, The Tempest and Nae Caranfil with  Dolce Far Niente (premiere in movie theaters all across Romania),  Filantropica şi Restul e tăcere..

The four prizes that will be offered in the RO-IFF sum up to 4,000 dollars and reward Best Film, Best Director of the Black Sea region, Best Director and Best Actor/Actress.
